Leaves (5–)8–48 × 3–8 mm, blade lanceolate, margins entire, serrate, or dentate, rarely sharply serrate or dentate. Flowers: corolla 35–48 mm.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jul.
Habitat: Cliffs, rock outcrops, rocky slopes, forest openings, roadcuts.
Elevation: 200–2200 m.

Discussion

Variety scouleri is known from southwestern Alberta, southern British Columbia, northern Idaho, and northeastern Washington.
