Flowers: calyx lobes ovate-oblong, 4–7 × 1.5–1.8 mm, usually shorter than capsules, apex obtuse to acute. 2n = 16.


Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Open, coastal forests.
Elevation: 400–1000 m.

Discussion

Variety kleei is known only from the peaks of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
