Stems erect. Leaves (at least mid cauline) elliptic, 4–10 × 1–3 cm, margins dentate to serrate (at least mid portions, often undulate as well), faces sericeous to puberulent (hairs unequal) or glabrate. Heads borne singly. Involucres hemispheric, 7–11 mm. Phyllaries 16–25 in 3–4 series (obovate, apices cuspidate, indument similar to leaves). Paleae: apices cuspidate (not spine-tipped). Ray florets 14–25; laminae 5–7.5 × 2.5–3.5 mm. Disc florets 25–60; corollas 5–6 mm, lobes 1.5–2 mm. Cypselae 3–5 mm, 3–4-angled. 2n = 28.

Habitat: Sandy and rocky coasts
Elevation: 0–10 m

Discussion

Borrichia ×cubana is a fertile F1 hybrid between B. frutescens and B. arborescens. It is found where the parental species are sympatric; backcrosses of the hybrid with either parent appear to be infertile.
