Trees, unarmed. Extrafloral nectaries often present abaxially or on leaflet margins. Stipules intrapetiolar (between petiole and axillary bud) or lateral, free. Leaves pinnate. Flowers caesalpinioid, bilateral; sepals connate, lobes 4; petals 5, 2 reduced to scales; stamens 10, filaments connate, anthers dorsifixed; pollen in monads. Fruits legumes, indehiscent. Seeds with lateral punctiform hilum, complex hilar valve absent, pseudopleurogram present; embryo straight. x = 12.

Distribution

Introduced; Florida, Asia, introduced also in Mexico, West Indies, Central America, South America, Africa, tropical to warm temperate regions.

Discussion
