|discussion=<p><i>Paludella squarrosa</i> is one of the most spectacular moss species in the flora area. The squarrose-recurved leaves (more squarrose than in any other species, including <i>Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus</i>), combined with the calcareous wet fen habitat are all that is needed for identification.</p>
