Stems sparsely tomentulose or glabrous (nodes usually auriculate-appendaged). Leaves mostly cauline; blades ovate to lanceolate in outline, 3–7 × 1–3 cm, subentire to incised or irregularly pinnatifid. Ray florets 8–13; laminae 10–18 mm. Cypselae ± quadrate, 2.5–4 mm; pappi 0, or (often fragile) of 1–10+ subulate or acerose scales to 0.5(–1.5) mm. 2n = 34.
Phenology: Flowering spring–summer.
Habitat: Sandy soils, often with mesquite
Elevation: 50–200 m
Distribution
Tex., Mexico (Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas).
