Herbs low-spreading or low-ascending. Stems decumbent to ascending, green or canescent, diffusely branched. Leaflet blades obovate (distal leaves), length 2 times width, not folded. Flowers (8–)10–12 mm; calyx lobes 2–3 mm; banner not panduriform; pistils arched less than 90°, ovary-style junction confluent, ovules 11 or 12. Legumes straight, 10–25 mm.
Phenology: Flowering late spring–early summer.
Habitat: Pinyon-juniper woodlands to upper sagebrush scrub, canyon slopes.
Elevation: 1200–2000 m.

Discussion
Variety notitius is known from the Cottonwood and Providence mountains in the Mojave Desert, where it is uncommon.
