Shrubs, usually prostrate, rarely erect. Spines usually solitary. Leaves: petiole/rachis 2–13 cm; leaflets 12–34, 8–16 mm apart, blades 20–60 × 1.5–4.5 mm, apex obtuse. Inflorescences 5–12 cm.


Phenology: Flowering Mar–Jun.
Habitat: Prairies, canyons, along streams, road­sides, deep, sandy soils.
Elevation: 0–1900 m.
