Shrubs or trees, erect, to 8 m. Stems slightly flexuous. Leaves 15–30 mm; petiole 6+ mm, usually densely pubescent, hairs erect; pinnae 2–4(or 5) pairs, 6–20 mm; leaflet blades 3–6.3 mm, surfaces pubescent abaxially, hairs erect. Legumes elliptic in cross section, 100–170 mm, constricted between seeds. Seeds uniseriate, relatively hard partitions between seeds.
Phenology: Flowering Dec–May.
Habitat: Chaparral, disturbed habitats.
Elevation: 0–150 m.
Distribution
Calif., Mexico (Baja California, Baja California Sur).
Discussion
In the flora area, var. minuta is known only from San Diego County.
