Bracts with short-appressed to long-spreading hairs. Calyces with sparsely appressed to spreading hairs; appendages usually absent. Corolla usually white to yellow, sometimes tinged pink or lavender, rarely rose or purple; wings withering, oblanceolate, lower margins rarely ciliate near claw, upper margins usually ciliate near claw; lower keel margins sometimes sparsely ciliate near claw. Legumes usually secund, sometimes spreading. 2n = 48.
Phenology: Flowering late spring.
Habitat: Open or disturbed areas, grasslands, roadbanks.
Elevation: 0–1600 m.

Discussion
Variety densiflorus occurs widely in western and central California and is apparently localized in mountainous areas of Gila County, Arizona.
