Legumes straight to moderately incurved, much inflated, 30–37 × 13–21 mm, fleshy becoming papery; septum 2–3.5 mm wide; stipe 5–8 mm.
Phenology: Flowering late Apr–early Jun.
Habitat: Sagebrush and pinyon-juniper communities.
Elevation: 1500–2100 m.

Discussion
Variety sufflatus occurs on the eastern slope of the Inyo Mountains, near the southern end of Saline Valley, Inyo County.
