Leaflets (5 or)7–11(or 13). Racemes 2–10-flowered. Flow­ers: calyx tube 2.7–3.4, lobes 0.9–1.7 mm; corolla pink-purple, wing tips pale; banner (9.2–)10–12 × 4.9–6.4 mm. Legumes (21–)25–50(–57) mm. Seeds (11–)14–20. 2n = 22.


Phenology: Flowering mid Apr–Jul.
Habitat: Grassy sites, gravel bars, river beds.
Elevation: 30–800 m.

Discussion

Variety rattanii is a taxon of primarily the outer North Coast Ranges from Humboldt County southward to western Tehama and northwestern Lake counties.
