Discussion

D. Isely (1981, 1998), following Larisey, used the name var. tomentosa for this taxon; the present International Code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi, and Plants (Art. 11.6) mandates use of the autonym var. elliptica that resulted from publication of Baptisia elliptica var. tomentosa Larisey.
