|discussion=<p><i>Dryopteris fragrans</i> is a northern species and is not closely related to the other species in North America. The only hybrid known to involve <i>D. fragrans</i> is with <i>D. marginalis</i>, producing D. × algonquinensis D. Britton.</p>
