Leaves: (first in basal rosettes, proximal cauline sometimes opposite or subopposite, distal alternate); blades grayish green, 15–35 × 7–20 mm, bases cuneate to attenuate, apices rounded or slightly retuse, faces often viscid when fresh. Peduncles ± 1 cm. Phyllaries: outer ca. 3 mm; inner ca. 5–6 mm, more chartaceous. Corollas 8–10 mm, surpassing involucres. Cypselae (6–)7–8 mm; pappi often tinged with purple, 8–11(–12) mm.


Phenology: Flowering mainly Oct–Dec (sometimes nearly year round).
Habitat: Dry, well-drained, sandy soils lacking appreciable organic materials, fire-maintained sand-pine-scrub and oak-scrub communities
Elevation: 0–10 m
