Basal leaf blades linear to linear-oblanceolate, (1.8–)3.5–9.7 × (0.2–)0.3–0.6(–0.9) cm, glabrous. Cauline leaf blades oblong-elliptic to oblong, 1–1.7(–2) × (0.1–)0.2–0.5(–0.8) cm, glabrous throughout or with scattered, marginal hairs near base.


Phenology: Flowering summer–fall.
Habitat: Rich woods, prairies
Elevation: 0-400 m

Discussion

Gossypianthus lanuginosus var. tenuiflorus has been reported also from Louisiana, but I have seen no supporting specimens.
