Stems glabrous or sparsely hairy proximally and hairy distally (hairs ascending, mostly shorter than 0.5 mm). Leaves scabrous to puberulent. 2n = 38.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–summer.
Habitat: Prairies, open sites
Elevation: 30–200 m
