Rosettes dense, internodes not visible. Leaf blades 4–9(–13) mm. Flowering shoots 2–7(–12) cm. Flowers: sepals 1.8–5 mm, apex obtuse to acute; petals yellow, sometimes with reddish veins, 4–10 × 3.2–4.1 mm; anthers 1.7–1.8 mm.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–early summer.
Habitat: Granite to diorite outcroppings, mostly on western slopes
Elevation: 1200-3700 m

Discussion

Variety obtusatum occurs in the Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains.
