Distal cauline leaves moderately to densely silky. Phyllaries moderately to densely silky. 2n = 8.
Phenology: Flowering Aug–Nov(–Dec).
Habitat: Sandy and loamy soils, roadsides, oak scrub, pine flatwoods, fields
Elevation: 0–600 m

Discussion
Variety concolor is found on the Coastal Plains east of the Mississippi River and on the Piedmont Plateau; it reaches southern New England. Aster concolor forma lasiocaulis Fernald is not recognized.
