Herbs, perennial, to 0.7(–0.8) m. Stems procumbent or prostate, weakly or not branched. Leaves 1.7–3.5(–4) cm; petiole 1–5.5(–6.5) mm; extrafloral nectary 1, sessile subsessile, not sunken in petiole; leaflets (5 or)6–9 pairs, blades oblong-oblanceolate, 7–12 × 2–4.5(–5) mm. Racemes 1–3(or 4)-flowered, nearly axillary. Pedicels (8–)9–26(–32) mm; bracteoles mid or distal on pedicel. Flowers: calyx yellowish, sepal venation reticulate; corolla yellow, petals to 11–15 mm; stamens 10; anthers 7(or 8), smaller ones yellow or sometimes red-dotted, (2 or)3 longer ones red, to 5.5–9 mm; ovary densely hairy. Legumes straight or weakly curved, linear, 33–45 × 4.5–5 mm. Seeds 2.5–3.8(–4.3) mm.


Phenology: Flowering spring–early summer(–late summer).
Habitat: Pine­lands, limestone soils.
Elevation: 0–10 m.

Discussion

Variety keyensis is known from Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
