Herbs 5–20 dm, caudex often unbranched. Stems hollow, glabrate to sparsely strigose. Flowers 14–18 mm.
Phenology: Flowering May–Aug.
Habitat: Moist areas.
Elevation: 50–3500 m.
Distribution
Ariz., Calif., Mexico (Baja California).
Discussion
Variety parishii is known from central and southern California, from Santa Barbara and Tulare counties to San Diego County, and eastward to Apache, Coconino, and Yavapai counties in Arizona. It is found at higher elevations in the central and southern Sierra Nevada and at lower elevations along the south coast and inland ranges.
