Herbs to 10 dm. Stems pubes­cent, hairs fine, retrorse. Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate; stipules linear, 9–10 mm; petiole 30–90 mm; leaflet blades broadly ovate, 60–70 × 5.2–6.3 mm, base cordate, surfaces glandular-punctate, sparsely pubes­cent. Peduncles 11–15 cm. Inflorescences columnar, 10+ cm. Flowers 9 mm; calyx 7–8 mm, eglandular, villous; corolla color unknown, banner ovate. Legumes unknown. Seeds unknown.

Discussion

Orbexilum macrophyllum is known only from the type specimen collected at Tryon Mountain. Repeated searches have been unfruitful, and it is presumed to be extinct (D. Isely 1990).
