Leaves: petiole (20–)35–70 mm, barely longer to shorter than peduncle; leaflet blades lanceolate to elliptic. Peduncles (1.7–)4–9 cm, usually longer than, sometimes equal to, petiole, appressed-pubescent. Seed usually gray, rarely red-brown.


Phenology: Flowering spring–early summer.
Habitat: Primarily on lime­stone, sometimes sandy soils, rocky hills, grasslands.
Elevation: 200–700 m.

Discussion

Variety scaposum is found along the eastern edge of the Edwards Plateau and northwards into the Cross Timbers and Blackland Prairie ecoregions.
