Herbs 7–25 cm; not rhizo­matous; taproots slender, bear­ing a crown of pilose wiry stems. Inflorescences 10–25-flowered, globose or obconic, 2–2.8 cm diam. Pedicels (at least proximal, usually all) strongly reflexed in fruit, slender, 1.5–2 mm. Flowers 11–13 mm; calyx sparsely hairy; corolla pink or white, often bicolored, banner apex acute or acuminate.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jun.
Habitat: Forested slopes.
Elevation: 1200–1900 m.

Discussion

Subspecies oreganum is found in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon.
