Involucres 2.5–3 × 2.5–5 mm. Ray florets 10–18. Disc florets 15–25. Pappus scales 0.5–1.4 mm.
Phenology: Flowering Mar–May.
Habitat: Open sites in brushland

Discussion
Variety grandis is known from the Rio Grande valley.
