Discussion
Variety pleniflora is probably of garden origin; it is currently naturalized pantropically. Botanists not familiar with this variety often file vouchers in herbaria as unidentified caesalpinoid legumes or as unidentified taxa of Convolvulaceae. The variety is prized as an ornamental, blue-flowering vine. A form with white petals has been vouchered from Cuba and Thailand. Some early collections of var. pleniflora (Anonymous [undated], S; Anonymous in 1812, W) may possibly be from outside of cultivation; more recent specimens are more likely from cultivation.
